We have an exciting addition to the magazine in this issue and that is the promotion of some completely new products from B.E.C. Osprey Ltd who are working with Premier One Supplies and our friends Fleming Outdoors to bring a new range of poultry equipment to the USA.
This month we cover the new nest box system that is suitable for all levels of poultry keeper from the back yard through to commercial breeders. The range of products is already a best seller all over the world and is now readily available in the USA.

The release of the May/June 2011 issue sees us enter volume 3 of the magazine. Welcome to all our new readers, and thanks to everyone who has been with us since the start.
In this month’s magazine we are covering the judging of that superb bird the Rhode Island Red a true American breed. Luuk Hans from Holland has done a basic survey on different breeds around the world and which ones are the most popular, some of the results are quite surprising, and Peter Jones gives and interesting read on the Polish breed.
The magazine has had yet another bumper issue and we are still looking for information and articles from American breeders and back yard keepers.
Into our 3rd year
1st May 2011
I find it hard to believe just how fast the years seem to pass by. The summer will soon be over and the fall is fast approaching. I love Alabama in the fall it is such a beautiful place but I hope that this winter is a little less severe than the one we experienced last year.
My wife and I have been in the UK for a few months and have been judging various shows around the country; it has been a very busy but rewarding time.
I hope you enjoy the latest of the Poultry Magazine and I am happy to report that we are growing as each issue is published; I thank all our readers for your support that is much appreciated.
I would also like any comments or questions about subjects that you would enjoy seeing in the magazine, if you could e-mail any ideas or any show news or reports I will make sure that they are included in the magazine. (Space Allowing)
Looking Ahead
2nd September 2011
Alabama is usually quite mild during this period but last year was an exception to the rule with us having heavy snowfall. Some of which were worse than those we expect to suffer from in the UK. It will be interesting to see if this year gives us a repeat performance.
Winter time can be quite a difficult time for both the birds and the keeper which is why it is so important to make sure the birds are kept in good health. Keeping them secure and safe is also very important as predators can take a serious toll at this time of the year. There is always the extra work during the wintertime but this does help to ensure that we are well prepared for the next season.
Winter is on its way
28th Oct 2011
I have been very busy over the pond in England as December is the busiest month of the year for me due to the National and Federation poultry shows. These are the largest shows held in the UK poultry calendar each hosting over 7000 exhibits.
With the wintertime being upon us it is the time of the year when your thoughts are turned to the selection of this year’s breeding stock. It is an ideal time to start and although it is early it gives you plenty of time to make sure the right decisions are made.
In the next issue we will be covering the art of incubation, selection of stock, what to do from collecting and setting the eggs through to hatch day. Look for the later issue in which we will cover the raising and rearing of the birds; this is always a very critical time in the calendar and one that if carried out properly will give some great results with perfect birds.
Busy times!
